Ultra Low-Power

LVD Ultra Low-Power

Battery protector with 12V/24V selector

The LVD Ultra Low-Power is a battery protector designed for vehicle telematics equipment. Includes selector for 12V or 24V systems (9-36V DC range). With standby consumption under 10µA, it's virtually imperceptible to the battery. Automatically disconnects load when voltage drops below safe threshold and reconnects with integrated hysteresis to prevent oscillations. Includes overvoltage, overcurrent and reverse polarity protection.

Why use an LVD?

GPS trackers consume power constantly, even with the vehicle off. In vehicles parked for several days, this can drain the battery and prevent starting. The LVD protects the battery by cutting power before it discharges, avoiding costly emergency calls and battery damage.

How does it work?

Smart battery protection cycle

1

Continuous Monitoring

The LVD continuously monitors battery voltage with only 10µA consumption

2

Protection Cut-off

When voltage drops to 11.8V, cuts tracker power to protect the battery

3

Auto Reconnect

When engine starts and voltage rises to 12.6V, automatically reconnects the tracker

Operation Thresholds

12V Mode
10V~12V (Cut-off)~12.5V (Reconnection)14V
24V Mode
20V~23.5V (Cut-off)~24.5V (Reconnection)28V

Integrated hysteresis for stable operation. Select the mode with the switch according to the vehicle system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before installing an LVD

LVD stands for Low Voltage Disconnect. It is a device that protects the vehicle battery by automatically disconnecting connected equipment (like GPS trackers) when voltage drops below a safe threshold, preventing complete battery discharge that would prevent engine starting.
GPS trackers consume power constantly, even with the vehicle off (typically 20-50mA). If the vehicle remains parked for several days or weeks, this consumption can drain the battery and prevent starting. The LVD cuts power before this happens.
The selector allows adapting cut-off thresholds to the vehicle electrical system. In 12V mode (cars, motorcycles, pickups) it cuts at ~12V and reconnects at ~12.5V. In 24V mode (trucks, buses, machinery) it cuts at ~23.5V and reconnects at ~24.5V.
Consumption is practically negligible: less than 10 microamps (< 10µA) in standby. This is 1000 times less than a typical GPS tracker. It does not affect the battery even during prolonged parking periods.
The LVD is compatible with any GPS tracker or telematics device that consumes up to 1A. It works with brands like Teltonika, Queclink, Concox, Meitrack, Ruptela, CalAmp, and of course all Rinho IoT devices (Spider, Smart, Zero).
The LVD includes complete protection: overvoltage via TVS (clamp at 36V), overcurrent with resettable fuse, and reverse polarity protection. This protects both the LVD and the connected tracker.
Yes, reconnection is completely automatic. When the alternator starts charging and voltage exceeds the reconnection threshold (~12.5V in 12V mode or ~24.5V in 24V mode), the LVD powers the tracker again without manual intervention.
