iButton and 1‑Wire sensors

Who is driving and how cold the cargo is, on a single cable

Each driver touches their iButton key when getting in, and you know who drives, how much and where. On the same cable you connect up to 8 temperature sensors to monitor the cargo. All with a single device.

One single cable

Driver

John Smith

Driving since 08:12 · 142 km

Cargo temperature

Front

+3.5 °C

Rear

+4.1 °C

Freezer

-18.2 °C

Key and temperature sensors on the same cable

What gets installed

Three simple parts

iButton key

iButton key

One per driver. Stainless steel, no battery, lasts for years.

Temperature sensor

Temperature sensor

Stainless steel probe with cable. Up to 8 per device.

Key reader

Key reader

Mounted on the dashboard. Two wires to the device, no power needed.

Two functions, one installation

Who drives and how the cargo travels

Spider IoT and Smart IoT read the driver key and the temperature sensors over the same cable. You do not have to choose between monitoring drivers and monitoring cargo.

Driver identification

  • Each driver has their own key: you know who drives each vehicle
  • Up to 100 authorized drivers per device
  • Ignition-on and ignition-off hours, and kilometers per driver
  • Alert when someone starts with an unauthorized key

Cargo temperature

  • Up to 8 temperature sensors on the same cable
  • Recognized automatically when another trailer is hooked up
  • Sensors are numbered from the device itself
  • The driver key can go on the same cable

100 authorized drivers

Load your team's keys. If someone uses a key that is not on the list, you find out.

Per-driver log

Every time a driver identifies, it records how long they drove and how many kilometers.

Up to 8 sensors

Measure temperature at several points of the cargo box with a single cable.

Recognized automatically

Swap the trailer and the device puts each sensor in its place, with no reconfiguration.

Driver identification

How it works

Identification happens in the device itself, so it works even without cellular signal at that moment.

1

The driver touches the key

A quick touch when getting in is enough. No need to hold it.

2

The device recognizes it

If the key is authorized, that driver's log starts. If not, an alert is raised.

3

The work is recorded

Ignition-on and ignition-off time and kilometers driven by that driver.

4

Your platform shows it

The data reaches your tracking platform for per-driver reports and alerts.

What you can automate

  • Alert when someone tries to start with an unauthorized key
  • Sound a buzzer if the driver has not identified
  • Prevent engine start if nobody identified, using a relay
  • Apply different rules for each driver

These rules are set up in the device with the event engine. If you prefer drivers not to do anything, there is also the ID Band Bluetooth wristband.

Cargo temperature

Several sensors, no reconfiguring every time

Built for real refrigerated transport, where boxes and trailers rotate between tractors.

One sensor: plug it in

With a single sensor there is nothing to configure: the device detects it.

Several measuring points

Up to 8 probes on the same cable, each in its own place in the reports.

Rotating trailers

Each trailer carries its numbered sensors. When hooked up, the tractor recognizes them in under a minute.

No extra tools

Sensors are numbered from the device itself, with no external programmer.

Applications

Where it is used

Fleets with several drivers

Know who drove each vehicle on each leg and for how long, without paper logs.

Access control

Alert or drive an output when someone starts without an authorized key, with rules in the device itself.

Refrigerated transport

Cargo temperature and an identified driver with a single installation and a single cable.

Swappable trailers

Each trailer carries its numbered sensors and the tractor's device recognizes them when hooked up.

Installation

Simple installation

The key reader connects with two wires and needs no power. Temperature sensors go to the same point on the device.

Two wires to the device, no power

Key and sensors share the same cable

Swapping the wires damages nothing

iButton and temperature sensor FAQ

It is a chip inside a stainless steel case with a unique code written at the factory. It has no battery: the driver touches it to a reader on the dashboard and the GPS tracker knows who is driving.
Yes. The key is read even with temperature sensors on the same cable, and a short touch is not missed. On Smart IoT the key can also go on either of its two inputs.
Up to 100 per device. The list stays stored in the device even after a reboot. If someone uses a key that is not on the list, an alert is raised.
Up to 8 on the same cable. They are digital probes from the DS18B20 family, including the two-wire versions.
If the sensors are numbered and the device is in automatic mode, it recognizes the new trailer's sensors in under a minute and puts them in place. Nothing needs reconfiguring.
Yes, with a rule in the device and a relay wired to one of its outputs. You decide what happens: prevent the start, sound a buzzer or just alert the platform.
No. Zero IoT has no input for a key or wired temperature sensors. For that you need Spider IoT or Smart IoT.
